an open letter

Dear Mr. Carlos,

I am writing you this email because I am deeply concerned about the welfare of the animals at the Marikina City Pound.

You think the city’s overpopulated with stray dogs? Please think again. Remember, they aren’t strays in the first place as they were deliberately taken away from their masters and their homes. People like yourself are the ones who took them..

If population count is the main reason of you being so persistent in taking the lives of these poor, innocent dogs, then please take into consideration the fact that these dogs can be spayed or neutered. Better yet, atleast try to consider putting them up for adoption. Since most of them are domesticated pets, I bet they are all qualified to be adopted.

Mr. Carlos, there are several, just ways to resolve this issue. I honestly think that you do not know what you are doing. You cannot just PUT THESE POOR DOGS DOWN FOR NO REASON AT ALL. How were you able to come up with an idea like this in the first place?

It is so strange to think that of all the various professions that man is into, you, a licensed veterinarian, is the one who wants to put down dogs just because YOU think that it is the right thing to do. I don’t think you have the heart to serve your profession. In fact, I don’t think you have a heart at all.

Please try to look into the eyes of all the dogs that you want to put down and try to answer this one simple question: Is it really the right thing to do, Mr. Manuel Carlos?

I, on behalf of all the millions of animal lovers here in the Philippines and all over world, would like to ask you to please reconsider your so-called resolution to this matter.

Surely you as a vet must know that these animals have a right to live a long and healthy life, especially if there are people out there who are willing to take them in and adopt them.

Please know what is right and act accordingly towards that direction – not the other way around.

These dogs deserve the right to live just as much as you do.

Please live up to your profession.
